Liquids at Dublin security
- At Dublin each container can hold up to 2 litres, thanks to new-generation scanners.
- No 1-litre bag: liquids and electronics stay in your hand luggage.
- On the way back, airports without the new scanners still apply the 100 ml rule.
Liquids include drinks, creams, gels, toothpaste, mascara, sprays, perfume, sauces, spreads, honey and food in oil. Solid lipstick, stick deodorant and bar soap do not count.
Exceptions: medicines needed during the trip, baby milk and food, and special dietary food, even over 100 ml. Show them separately at security.
On your way back, the rules of your departure airport apply. Some airports with new scanners accept larger containers; many do not.
Frequently asked questions
Can I bring liquids over 100 ml at Dublin Airport?
Yes. Dublin has new scanners at every lane: as of our last check (4 novembre 2026) liquids stay in your bag and each container can hold up to 2 litres. For your return flight from airports without the new scanners, pack containers of 100 ml or less in one 1-litre bag.
Can I take Spanish food home in my hand luggage?
Cured ham, hard cheese and dry sweets are fine. Wine, cava, olive oil and honey count as liquids: over 100 ml they must go in checked luggage, unless you buy them after security.
